The Shuttle Program Ends, but We Still Look to the Stars!

I’m watching now as Space Shuttle Atlantis makes it’s final landing. Thankful it is a safe one. The last live shuttle re-entry I watched was the Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy of 2003.

I know it is probably overly emotional, but I can’t help holding back tears. After 30 years the shuttle program is at an end and America will now rely on the Russians to enter into space.

In my opinion this is a great blot on the Obama administration. For a campaign that offered “hope” that have ended it for many young boys dreaming of being an astronaut.

I hope this will not truly be the end of America’s space endeavors. It was really probably the time to retire the shuttles, but there should have been ready to walk into the next generation of space flight.

I called my mom last night just to ask her if she remembered the first moon landing. She was only seven then, but she didn’t remember it.

Will I remember this moment? Will I have a moment with my kids when we return to the moon? Or will we just look on as the Chinese and other pass us by?

The truth is I don’t know, but we have long been a people that has looked to the stars and been inspired. We look at this vast created universe and and it beckons “Come explore me!” So while this president may have given up on that I don’t think we as a people will.

There are many private endeavors that are seeking to go into space and as long as they are not regulated out of it these may actually have great hope.

Doug Phillips of Vision Forum Ministries is currently planning a documentary on one of those flights and I can’t wait to view it.

You know, I serve a big God that created a vast universe and when we explore and learn about His creation we learn just how great He is. So while I now have a sense of sadness and melancholy over the end of the shuttle era I do believe that the call to the stars will continue.

Maybe one day I’ll even be able to make that trip into space myself.

Allen West Sends the Greatest Letter in Congress in 200 Years!

Debbie Wasserman the DNC Chairman attacked Rep. Allen West of Florida on the floor of the House of Representatives. The spineless woman waited until West had left the floor. After hearing of the attack West responded with what may be the greatest letter from one Congressman to another in over 200 years!

Read and Enjoy:

To: Wasserman Schultz, Debbie
Cc: McCarthy, Kevin; Blyth, Jonathan; Pelosi, Nancy; Cantor, Eric
Subject: Unprofessional and Inappropriate Sophomoric Behavior from Wasserman-Schultz

Look, Debbie, I understand that after I departed the House floor you directed your floor speech comments directly towards me. Let me make myself perfectly clear, you want a personal fight, I am happy to oblige. You are the most vile, unprofessional ,and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!

I am bringing your actions today to our Majority Leader and Majority Whip and from this time forward, understand that I shall defend myself forthright against your heinous characterless behavior……which dates back to the disgusting protest you ordered at my campaign hqs, October 2010 in Deerfield Beach.

You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!

Steadfast and Loyal

Congressman Allen B West (R-FL)

BTW, I’m still waiting on Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee to come out and say that Wasserman is only attacking him because she is racist. That is why we all dislike Obama after all.

It’s Not Obama’s Fault!

“The buck stops here.” – President Truman

As you can probably deduce from my last post I enjoy listening to conservative talk radio. I really get into it and even scream and shout at it at times. While I enjoy it there is what great flaw into which all of these “talking heads” fall.

And that is that economy is really not effected that much by democrats or republicans in office. The most effect that they have is the confidence people have in our economy. Yes, they can definitely get in the way and the best thing to do is just vote no on most of the bills.

No politician has EVER created jobs outside of government jobs. President Obama, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, or even Sarah Palin have ever created a single private sector job as politicians.

Politicians don’t create jobs, people do! People buying and selling, creating and innovating, building and growing, these are the people and activities that create jobs.

It really isn’t Barack Obama’s fault that you haven’t had a job in 18 months. It is yours. If you haven’t found a job then you are perfectly able to go create and open your own business. If you don’t know how to do that then all you have to do is go online or to your local library and learn a skill or trade.

The biggest challenge in truly moving forward as a nation is people learning to take personal responsibility and that doesn’t just include “those welfare recipients.”

Outside forces do have effect where we are at in life for a time. The bad childhood, the genetics, the accident, the government regulations, the union thugs can all play a part in our lives. But only for a time should we use these as excuses generally speaking. Now if you lost all your limbs in a war then you might have an excuse (though most men I’ve seen who have been through such are actually pretty inspiring in the way they refuse to complain).

Part of being an adult is taking responsibility for your actions and realizing that each of us is where we are in life primarily by our own doing.

If I have debt it is because I took out the loan. If I am fat it is because I haven’t eaten right and exercised. If I don’t know how to do something it is because I haven’t made it a priority to learn it.

I’ve heard that the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. Well America, we have a problem! The sooner we start admitting it the sooner we can move past it.

So stop playing the blame game. Stop bemoaning your circumstances. Stop planning your future around winning the lottery. Realize your strengths and start using them to move forward.

You might be able to blame the debt crisis on Bush and Obama, but most of your situation is your own fault because if you don’t then ten years from now you’ll be sitting right where you are now or worse.

Remember that it is the right to the pursuit of happiness so get out there and strive in that pursuit.

Welcome to The Twisted Conservative!

Howdy all ya sick twisted freaks,

This is The Twisted Conservative, Jason Vaughn. Welcome to my new site. I thought I’d start out by letting you know a little bit about me.

The reason I’m known as the twisted conservative is because I actually make my living as a professional balloon artist and entertainer in St. Louis and also speak out on many conservative issues.

I have a ton of friends in the entertainment world who hold to liberal views, but there are very few of us who are conservative and I want to give a voice so the world can see the full range.

This was really all started when I made several balloons for one of my favorite radio hosts, Dana Loesch of The Dana Show on 97.1 Talk and Big Journalism. She really appreciated them and gave me a few plugs on air.

I was amazed at how many folks tried to tell me how wrong it was for a business owner to be associated with a political viewpoint. It was like I committed a cardinal sin!

Being the rebel it made me wanted to stand up even more and shout:

I’M CONSERVATIVE AND PROUD! And if you don’t like it then I will happily refer you to some left leaning entertainers.

So here is my continued rebellion. If you think that my being a conservative disqualifies me from entertaining at your event then I’m not the one for you, but if you want great entertainment (I’m a capitalist so I work for all people) then check my work out at

This is America and I love the right of freedom of speech and I won’t let fear of losing a little business scare me off.

So that is where I’m coming from and more importantly I’m coming from an evangelical Christian viewpoint.

I’m not a pragmatist. I don’t just care about political victories. I care about what is right and what God commands in His word. I much as I dislike government most of the time it was instituted by God and if you want to do it right then it should be under His will. That will ultimately lead to a small government, and His blessings.

No this is not a theocracy, but if we want to see God bless America then we must elect officials with the best understanding of God’s purpose for government which is primarily to “yield the sword” to protect the innocent and punish the criminal.

But more on that later.

Thanks for stopping by,

Jason Vaughn, The Twisted Conservative
